 Other times a perfectly good tree is felled and only a very small part used, such as for an axe handle. This wouldn't be so bad, if the Tarahumara were using the handles for their own use. Because of the lack of work in the area, the Tarahumara have been forced to exploit anything they can. This has forced some of them to make axe handles for export to the cities. This practice is very destructive, since the trees used are not very abundant. It is our goal that by giving the example of reusing what is still good, maybe many more people will become aware that the woodland resources of the Sierra Tarahumara are not eternal. Especially since there is no active large scale reforestation of any kind in the Sierra.
